Our Story

What we do & how we started

The agriculture project is the University’s initiative to promote self-reliance by producing food locally for students’ consumption and to empower the local communities with Biblical principles of farming in order to enhance food production. ECU has farm land of 250 hectares of which 70 hectares has been made useful for crop production.

In 2023and in preparation for the University to return to the main campus ECU after a forced break of production due to insecurity, ECC has taken up the coffee demonstration farm initiative which has been planted within and around the campus to a higher success level. This project which is known as “ Coffee for Community Empowerment, life Transformation and Sustainable Development” is the University’s initiative to utilize agriculture as a vehicle to boost economic transformation.

Currently the College has a demonstration coffee farm of 14 acres. The demonstration has shown successful outcome. Thus, within the next two year the University intends to plant 25,000 coffee seedlings.

The cattle make one of the major elements of the ECU farm. Currently ECU has about 100 head of cattle contributing to a successful organic farming as well as milk and meet supply for the university.
