Rev. George William
Rev. George William is a South African born missionary who served in South Sudan for more than 15 years during the time of the liberation war and the historical transition of becoming an independent nation and state. He served the church throughout South Sudan and Sudan in developing leaders and equipping the fast-growing churches of Sudan. He travelled all regions of the country including Abeyei, Nuba Mountains and Blue Nile regions.
In 2001, George William and Elias Taban founded Emmanuel Christian College (ECC). Initially it was called Emmanuel Christian Training Centre (ECTC). The vision for the establishment of this institution is to see a nation rooted in the Word of God glorifying Him in every sphere of life by equipping godly men and women who will develop a sustainable church and communities in the nation. This initiative that started out as a theological training project developed into a ministry and college through the generous support of Open Doors and many partners. It boasts a beautiful campus 20 miles outside of Yei in the Mundu community.
George William served in various capacities before assuming the role of Board Chairman of Emmanuel Christian College as a founder member. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology from the South African Theological College. He is married to Maretha and together they have two daughters and a son as well as two grandchildren.
